What type of martial arts do you teach?


The authentic traditional Wudang & Shaolin Kung Fu. Due to our strong lineage, and full endorsement from Grandmaster You Xuande & Grandmaster Shi Yan Ming, students are offered the complete package of the Wudang & Shaolin Kung Fu and Tai Ji.

When does training take place?

Generally all Kung Fu training takes place in the evenings from 6pm until 10pm. Classes are held bi-weekly, running on a Monday and Wednesday. For those students who wish to grow even quicker within the art they are welcome at the School on either of those evenings or on a Saturday morning to do their own training. The SAWWI also offers tuition in Tai Ji and Sanshou (Fighting).

What are the fees involved?

The monthly fee for Kung Fu, Tai Ji and Sanshou classes is R400 per individual, regardless of age. Students are welcome to train one style or all three styles. On joining one will also pay an affiliation fee of R300. Private tuition has its own fee structure.

Who can join?

Anybody. We cater for all age groups, and are non-discriminatory in regards to race or gender. Regardless of your level of fitness, you are welcome to join, as the training will improve your fitness to the level necessary to perform the art correctly.

What benefits can one get from practicing Chinese Kung Fu?

There are many benefits, and they may be generalized into five categories: self-defence, health, vitality, mind expansion and spiritual development.

Can you give an idea of the depth of Chinese Kung Fu?

It is no exaggeration to say that its depth is unfathomable. Chinese Kung Fu is one of the oldest if not the oldest martial art which influenced hundreds if not thousands of martial art styles all over the world.

Can Kung Fu really be used in a fight?

The SAWWI divides its fighting into two categories - competition Sanshou and Traditional fighting. The dynamic techniques taught at the SAWWI are extremely effective for self-defence and the students training at the school often enter full contact knockdown tournaments with great success.
